October is packed with awareness days, weeks, and months—and if you’re a school counselor, it can start to feel like you’re supposed to recognize every single one of them. But here’s your reminder: You don’t have to do it all. In this video, I’m talking about October Awareness Overload and how school counselors can be more intentional about deciding what actually deserves space in their school counseling program. Instead of trying to create a lesson, bulletin board, activity, or campaign for every observance, we can focus on the initiatives that align with our students’ needs, our program goals, and the work we’re already doing. We’ll talk about: 🍂 Why October can feel especially overwhelming for school counselors 📅 How to decide which awareness events actually fit your program 🎯 The importance of connecting activities to student needs and program goals 💡 Ways to recognize important topics without creating an entirely new initiative 🙌 Why it’s okay to say, “That’s important—but it doesn’t have to be mine.” Being a great school counselor doesn’t mean doing everything. It means being intentional about the things you choose to do. If October has you looking at your calendar wondering how you’re supposed to fit it all in, this one is for you.
