Hey friends, it's Bridgette here — welcome back to my Sizzle and Spice! Today we're making a real Jamaican Saturday soup: pumpkin beef soup with green pigeon peas, what we call gungo peas back home. The pumpkin breaks down and builds the body of the pot. The beef was cooked ahead so we could spend the live on the vegetables, the dumplings, and the simmer. I put in a little cow foot — just a couple pieces — but baby, this is a pumpkin and beef soup, not a cow foot cook. 🍲 What's in the pot: • Fresh pumpkin • Beef, cooked ahead • Green pigeon peas (gungo) • Flour dumplings • A little cow foot • Carrots, chocho, corn, and island seasonings • A splash of coconut milk Yellow yam and sweet potato stay on the side so the soup doesn't get too starchy. Thank you for always watching, friends. Baby, the flavor does not lie. #JamaicanFood #PumpkinSoup #CaribbeanCooking #JamaicanSoup #ComfortFood #SizzleAndSpice
