✈️ *From the mountains of Madeira to the Channel Islands — another Atlantic crossing aboard the Citation X!* Welcome to *Stage 19 of the IVAO Island Hopper World Tour 2024**, flown in **Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024* with the **FlightFX Cessna Citation X**. After exploring the Atlantic archipelagos of Cape Verde, the Canary Islands and Madeira, we now continue north towards the Channel Islands. Today's flight takes us from Cristiano Ronaldo International Airport (LPMA), on the Portuguese island of Madeira, to Jersey Airport (EGJJ), located on Jersey, the largest of the Channel Islands, just off the coast of Normandy, France. This long IFR flight combines an oceanic crossing at FL400, navigation through French-controlled airspace and an arrival at an island airport with a relatively short runway. 🛫 *DEPARTURE FROM MADEIRA* Our journey begins on runway 05 at Madeira Airport, one of the most recognisable airports in Europe. Surrounded by mountainous terrain and the Atlantic Ocean, Madeira presents a distinctive environment for both arrivals and departures. Its runway, partly supported by an elevated structure, makes it particularly memorable for aviation enthusiasts. Following the DEGUN 1E departure (DEGU1E), we climb away from the island towards DEGUN before proceeding through DEMOS and KORUL. As we leave Madeira behind, the Citation X climbs towards FL400, beginning our high-altitude cruise over the vast Atlantic Ocean. 🌊 *NORTHBOUND ACROSS THE ATLANTIC* Unlike the shorter inter-island flights featured in other stages of the tour, this leg covers a substantial distance between Madeira and the Channel Islands. Our route takes us northeast across the Atlantic, towards the western approaches to France and the Bay of Biscay region. The Citation X is an ideal aircraft for this type of mission. Its impressive speed and high-altitude capabilities make it a fascinating business jet to operate on long-distance IFR routes. As we approach the French Atlantic region, the flight plan calls for a descent to FL190 at ERCOZ. From there, we join airway G27 towards BADUR, continuing our descent to FL180 before following the same airway towards LERAK. This part of the flight brings us into the airspace associated with Brittany and the Channel Islands, marking the transition from our long oceanic cruise to the arrival phase. 🛬 *ARRIVING AT JERSEY* Our destination is Jersey Airport, located in the parish of Saint Peter, a few kilometres west of Saint Helier. Jersey is a British Crown Dependency situated in the English Channel, close to the French coast. Although it maintains strong links with the United Kingdom, the island has its own distinctive identity and institutions. Following the LERAK 1J arrival (LERA1J), we prepare for our approach and landing on runway 26. With a runway approximately 1,705 metres long, Jersey provides a very different environment from the large international airports frequently visited during our world tours. Managing the descent, speed and final approach in a high-performance aircraft such as the Citation X adds another interesting element to this stage. From Madeira's volcanic mountains to the shores of the Channel Islands, Stage 19 takes us across another fascinating part of the Atlantic and brings us closer to the European mainland.
