We have no way of knowing why. It could be environmental, such as temperatures, humidity percentages, oxygen levels at high altitude, etc. It could be biological with something just being off at the time the eggs were created. It is very unlikely that either Jackie or Shadow are infertile since they have already had 2 sets of chicks together - in 2019 and 2022. 📌 A replacement (second) clutch may be common if the first one was lost very early on (within 1-2 weeks) and uncommon otherwise. It is unlikely there will be another clutch this season. Jackie is still incubating the current clutch. 📌 Jackie & Shadow tend to stay in BB year-round. They hang out a lot after first being away, then do cool eagle stuff on cam 2. We often see them on perch trees and roost trees, and they sometimes even visit the nest. Jackie and Shadow stay in the general area, somewhere near the lake, year-round. Where are the eagles when not on the nest? https://bit.ly/4alBilp 📌 Visits will become more frequent in the fall when nestorations begin. Jackie is a very young eagle. She has many years of egg laying ahead of her. Hens can lay their entire lifetime if they are healthy. 📌 Jackie is about 12 years old in Spring of 2024. She took over the Big Bear nesting territory in the fall of 2016. Fledglings: 2018 Stormy JR1 w/Mr.B; 2019 Simba ZR1, 2022 Spirit w/ Shadow. . 📌 Shadow is about 10 years old in Spring of 2024. He took over the Big Bear nesting territory in the summer of 2018. Fledglings: 2019 Simba ZR1, 2022 Spirit w/ Jackie. 📌 Spirit is Jackie’s only living offspring. There is no way to ID Spirit at this point. She fledged on 5/31/22 and was last seen in the area 6/24/22. https://bit.ly/3KAdL3B. 📌 Bald Eagle Head Anatomy & little Spirit's ears. https://imgur.com/a/8ZxFag4 📌 Nesting seasons are driven by the amount of light (photoperiod). Eagles in Southern latitudes lay eggs earlier than in the North. Jackie's egg-laying season is Jan-Mar https://bit.ly/4cofveK. 📌 Jackie & Shadow utilize their favorite Sentry Trees (some are snags) visible from Cam2: CS=Cactus Snag, SDS=Stick Depot Snag, LS=Lookout Snag, TP=Twin Pines, HOP=Hide Out Pine https://bit.ly/3F7Xh1l 🦅 🦅 🦅 🦅 🦅 🦅 🦅 🦅 🦅 🦅 🦅 🦅 🦅 🦅 🦅 🦅 🦅🦅 🦅 🦅 🔴Big Bear Bald Eagle Live Nest - Cam 1(with live chat):    • Big Bear Bald Eagle Live Nest - Cam 1   🔵Wide View - Cam 2:    • Видео   🔴 Bald Eagles are protected by the CA Endangered Species Act https://bit.ly/3yHnwJH 🔵 Live Commentary mode & LIVE Recap: https://bit.ly/3Md8TSz 🦅🫶 🦅 🫶 🦅🦅 🫶 🦅🦅 🫶 🦅🦅 🫶 🦅🦅 🫶 🦅🦅 🫶 🦅🦅 🔗To Donate: https://friendsofbigbearvalley.org/do... 🔗FOBBV Shop: https://friendsofbigbearvalley.org/shop/ 🔗Big Bear Eagles History: https://friendsofbigbearvalley.org/ea... 🔗Quick Reference Guide: https://friendsofbigbearvalley.org/ea... 🔗FOBBV Facebook page:   / fobbv   🔗FOBBV community Facebook group:   / fobbv   🦅 🦅 🦅 🦅 🦅 🦅 🦅 🦅 🦅 🦅 🦅 🦅 🦅 🦅 🦅 🦅 🦅🦅 🦅 🦅 jackie and shadow bald eagles shadow and jackie eagles live stream big bear eagle cam eagle live cam jackie and shadow big bear bald eagle live nest cam fobbv live eagle cam fobbv live eagle cam 1 jackie and shadow bald eagles live stream bald eagle live cam big bear live cam big bear eagle cam 1 eagle cam jackie and shadow bald eagles cam 2 live eagle cam bird cam eagle nest live cam eagle nest live cam big bear eagles big bear live cam eagles nest live #couldbespirit 50's and 60's oldies big bear bald eagle live nest cam 1 big bear live big bear valley eagles eagle cam 1 eagle cam big bear eagles eagles in big bear cam eagles jackie and shadow eagles nest fobbv hays bald eagles live stream jackie and shadow 2024 jackie and shadow live eagle cam jackie shadow bald eagle bald eagle live cam bald eagles bald eagles big bear big bear bald eagle big bear eagle cam 1 live big bear eagle cam 2 big bear lake eagles
