Travel across Tasmania, the great island lying beyond Australia’s southern coast, where glacial mountains, ancient rainforests, wild rivers and isolated beaches meet beneath the changing skies of the Southern Ocean. Our journey begins beside the Bass Strait before entering Tasmania’s northern forests and climbing toward Cradle Mountain. From there, we follow the Overland Track through alpine moorland, descend to Lake St Clair and continue west into cool-temperate rainforest. Farther south, the Franklin and Gordon rivers lead toward one of the largest temperate wilderness areas remaining in the Southern Hemisphere. Along the way, we encounter wombats, wallabies, platypuses, echidnas, quolls and the island’s most famous nocturnal survivor—the Tasmanian devil. We also explore the deep Aboriginal history of Tasmania, the ancient Gondwanan origins of its plants, the influence of ice and fire, and the conservation work protecting its wildlife and landscapes. Our route ends on Tasmania’s eastern coast, where orange granite mountains rise above clear bays and the evening light fades across the Southern Ocean. In this journey: Bass Strait → northern forests → Cradle Mountain → Dove Lake → the Overland Track → Lake St Clair → ancient western rainforest → buttongrass moorland → the Franklin and Gordon rivers → southwest wilderness → Bruny Island → Freycinet Peninsula → Maria Island → Tasmanian devils after dark → evening beside the Southern Ocean. #Quivra #Tasmania #TasmaniaDocumentary #CradleMountain #TasmanianDevil #AncientRainforest #AustralianWildlife #NatureDocumentary #RelaxingDocumentary #SleepDocumentary #FallAsleep #Sleep
