On the thirtieth of May 2026, the gates of the Saab factory in Trollhättan, Sweden, opened one last time — and the very last Saabs on Earth were sold off with no reserve. This is the story of the car you drove. From the aircraft engineers who built the Saab 92, Erik Carlsson's rally-winning 96, the 99 Turbo and the legendary 900 with the key between the seats, to the 9000 and the 9-3 and 9-5 Aero. Then the fall: General Motors, Spyker, two Chinese companies ready to save Saab, GM saying no, and the bankruptcy of December 2011. Then China got the keys. NEVS bought what was left of Saab, Evergrande took control, and a team of former Saab engineers secretly built the Emily GT — a 480-horsepower electric saloon with four in-wheel motors. When Evergrande collapsed, it all went down with it: 320 of 340 jobs gone, the presses sold off, and the last seven cars auctioned for around €90,000 in total.
