You and I, We killed Sana Yusuf

A 17-year-old girl, Sana Yusuf — famous on TikTok and Instagram —was murdered in cold blood in Pakistan because she rejected a social media proposal. Shot twice by a young man who couldn’t take no for an answer. In this episode of 'Meri Rai' , I deconstruct this horrifying incident—not as an isolated act of violence—but as a reflection of a deeper, systemic issue within our society. We live in a culture where women are taught to be protectees, not participants. Where "honor" is still tied to female obedience. And where boys are never taught how to handle rejection, vulnerability, or the evolving roles of women in society. This isn’t just about one man’s violence—it’s about how we’ve collectively failed to prepare men to live in a world where women now speak, choose, and say no. I explore how our societal, religious, and cultural systems continue to uphold male entitlement and suppress female agency—and why these failures are costing lives. This story is not just tragic. It's urgent. #sanayousuf #GenderJustice #Pakistan #TiktokMurder #Feminism #HonorCulture #Patriarchy #RejectionViolence #SocialMedia #WomenInPakistan #journalism 'ViewPoint' is an independent interview series, hosted by a Pakistani Journalist Abbas Haidar.
