Overnight solo backpack to Whirlpool Campground, Jasper National Park June 9-10, 2025

Another Trip in the Whirlpool Valley! This was a nice overnight trip to Whirlpool Campground on the Athabasca Pass trail. An easy 6.5km hike on an old road leads you to a beautiful campground on a backwater pond off the Whirlpool River. One of the more easy backcountry hikes in the Park, you can bike or hike the 6.5km to the campground. Makes for a good early/late season hike, or a great introduction hike for newbie backpackers. The old road is straightforward, with little elevation loss/gain. High reward for minimal effort.
