Terra • Mare • Astra | The Myth of Hekate’s Divine Ascension (Latin Hymn)

Inspired by Hesiod’s Theogony (8th century BC), this original Latin hymn tells the earliest surviving myth of Hekate. Daughter of Asteria and Perses, Hekate is honored by Zeus above many immortals and receives authority over the three great realms: Earth, Sea and the Starry Heavens. Long before later traditions associated her with witchcraft and the Underworld, she was celebrated as a primordial goddess whose ancient power reached every corner of the cosmos. #Hekate #Hecate #Theogony #Hesiod #GreekMythology #AncientGreece #LatinHymn #LatinLyrics #EnglishTranslation #MythologicalMusic #EpicMusic #DarkFolk #AncientReligion #Classics #GreekGods ⸻ LATIN LYRICS Astra patent, mare surgit, terra sub pedibus sonat. Nomen antiquum ascendit, et caelum memorat. Asteria clara sub nocte, Perses alta domo, genuit Hecaten magnam, lumen in triplici solo. Non parva dea nascitur, non umbra sine honore. Ante vias et ante portas, stat virtus in splendore. Zeus illam non minuit, nec dona vetera fregit. Inter deos immortales honorem magnum legit. Terra, mare, astra, Hecate magna. Una dea surgit, tria regna tangit. Terra, mare, astra, Hecate magna. Lux antiqua manet, potestas non cadit. In terra dat incrementum, in campo semen floret. Qui recte viam requirit, sub eius lumine movet. In mari dat cursum navibus, ventum placidum vocat. Piscator sub stellis audit, quam nox tacita probat. Non uno loco tenetur, non uno nomine stat. Per montes, undas, caelum, eadem vis radiat. Terra, mare, astra, Hecate magna. Una dea surgit, tria regna tangit. Terra, mare, astra, Hecate magna. Lux antiqua manet, potestas non cadit.
