Using the stitches on the frame only works when you use the same colour thread for the frame and the pattern. I couldn't include the part after stitching in this video, but you can cut the ends of thread at the end. As we have run a short length of thread between the layers, we can cut the thread at the back and the end of the thread stays between the layers.
