BYD Seal Camping Review: Sleeping in an EV + Zero Travel Costs Explained | Episode 3

Welcome back to the Electro Revolution channel! 🚗⚡ In this episode, we wrap up our EV camping series with a full review of what it’s really like to camp and sleep in a BYD Seal Premium Edition. This entire trip—about a 2-hour drive each way—was completed without using public chargers. By charging at home and topping up at the campsite, we effectively paid nothing for travel thanks to EV efficiency (and solar charging at home). We also dive into charging speeds: 🔌 BYD standard granny charger (~1.7 kW) 🔌 Third-party charger (~2.4 kW on 10A) When it comes to sleeping, we give an honest rating of the BYD Seal as a camping vehicle. While the climate control makes overnight stays comfortable, space is limited—making it more suitable for solo or emergency sleeping rather than regular camping. We also compare it to the Tesla Model Y, which offers significantly more space and comfort—especially for families. 📍 Location: Near Kiama, NSW – great for fishing, beaches, and quick weekend getaways from Sydney. This was our first time camping inside vehicles instead of tents—and we’ll definitely be doing more!
