๐ฃ๐๐ฆ๐๐๐๐๐ง, ๐ฆ๐ฒ๐ฝ๐๐ฒ๐บ๐ฏ๐ฒ๐ฟ ๐ต: The 60th Central Solung Festival was celebrated with traditional fervour and enthusiasm at Gidi Notko, Pasighat, on September 9, 2026. The celebration was organised by the Central Solung Festival Committee (CSFC) 2026.
The programme was graced by Shri Bhuban Pegu, MLA of Jonai Constituency, as the Chief Guest. Former MLA of 36th Nari-Koyu Constituency, Shri Kento Rina, attended the event as the Guest of Honour.
Among the distinguished guests present were Smt. Ruth Tabing Boko, Zilla Parishad Chairperson (ZPC), East Siang District; Shri Tagom Padung, Chief Councillor, Pasighat Municipal Council (PMC); Shri Rahul Tamuk, PMC member; Shri Tamat Gamoh, District Olympic Association President; Smt. Dui Gao; Smt. Nanom Gao; Smt. Okyam Moyong, and other public leaders.
The celebration was also attended by Naresh Kumbang, President of the Adi-Mising Bane Kebang, and senior leader Shri Atul Pegu.
Representatives of the TMPK Central Committee included Vice-Presidents Pankil Patir and Arnold Taye, Organising Secretary Rajib Pegu, and members Binesh Patir, Nitya Pegu and Ghana Narah. Shri Francis Patir, President of the TMPK Jonai District Committee, was also present.
The CSFC 2026 office-bearers included Tashiram Pertin, Chairman; Kaling Adum Dai, Vice-Chairman; and Tabung Ering, Member Secretary. The Advisory Board comprised Shri Tatdo Borang, Chairman, and Talu Dai, Vice-Chairman.
Other members of the organising committee included Er. Jorshing Moyong, President; Er. Karo Rukbo, Vice-President; Osong Doming, General Secretary; Dr. Tamang Tamuk, Assistant Secretary; and Er. Oyek Tasing, Treasurer.
During the occasion, former MLA Shri Kento Rina reiterated his opposition to the proposed Siang Upper Multipurpose Project (SUMP).
Rina stated that his opposition to the project was rooted in the need to protect the land, rivers, environment, culture and communities of the Siang region. He maintained that the concerns and interests of the people living in the Siang region must be given due consideration before proceeding with any major development project.
The 60th Central Solung Festival brought together community leaders, representatives, public figures and members of the Adi and Mising communities to celebrate the rich cultural heritage, traditions and spirit of Solung.
