The Soundscape of the Burren and Beyond

Eugene McKeown is a doctoral researcher at the University of Galway, exploring the effects of noise on our environment and perception. His artistic practice draws inspiration from field recordings of both natural soundscapes and unusual anthropogenic noises, transforming them into evocative works that challenge how we listen and feel. Passionate about the art of stillness, he creates pieces that celebrate the beauty of sounds - those we cherish today, and those that have faded or are at risk of disappearing. Through his work, he invites audiences into a dialogue about the sonic heritage we share, encouraging reflection on what it means to truly listen in a changing world.
