ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਗ੍ਰੰਥ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਜੀ ਦੇ ਅੰਗ 654–655 ਤੋਂ ਰਾਗ ਸੋਰਠਿ ਵਿੱਚ ਭਗਤ ਕਬੀਰ ਜੀ ਦੇ ਪਹਿਲੇ ਤਿੰਨ ਸ਼ਬਦਾਂ ਦੀ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਕਥਾ। ਪਹਿਲੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ‘ਬੁਤ ਪੂਜਿ ਪੂਜਿ ਹਿੰਦੂ ਮੂਏ’ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਬੀਰ ਜੀ ਮੂਰਤੀ ਪੂਜਾ, ਸਿਜਦੇ, ਕਵਿਤਾ, ਤੀਰਥ, ਜਟਾਂ, ਧਨ ਤੇ ਵਿੱਦਿਆ ਦੇ ਰਾਹ ਗਿਣ ਕੇ ਸਮਝਾਉਂਦੇ ਨੇ ਕਿ ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਗਤੀ, ਯਾਨੀ ਬੰਧਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਛੁਟਕਾਰਾ, ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲੀ। ਦੂਜੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ‘ਜਬ ਜਰੀਐ ਤਬ ਹੋਇ ਭਸਮ ਤਨੁ’ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਰੀਰ ਦੀ ਤੁਲਨਾ ਕੱਚੀ ਗਾਗਰ ਨਾਲ ਤੇ ਧਨ ਦੀ ਮਧੂ ਮੱਖੀ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਦ ਨਾਲ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਪੁੱਛਦੇ ਨੇ ਕਿ ਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਪੇਟ ਵਾਲਾ ਦਿਨ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਭੁੱਲ ਗਿਆ, ਤੇ ਦੱਸਦੇ ਨੇ ਕਿ ਮੌਤ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਹੰਸ, ਯਾਨੀ ਜੀਵ ਆਤਮਾ, ਇਕੱਲਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਐ। ਤੀਜੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ‘ਬੇਦ ਪੁਰਾਨ ਸਭੈ ਮਤ ਸੁਨਿ ਕੈ’ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਸਮਾਂ, ਤਪ, ਭੇਖ ਤੇ ਦਿਖਾਵੇ ਦੇ ਰਾਗ ਤੋਂ ਅੱਗੇ ਇਹ ਨਿਚੋੜ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਐ: ‘ਕਹੁ ਕਬੀਰ ਜਨ ਭਏ ਖਾਲਸੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਭਗਤਿ ਜਿਹ ਜਾਨੀ’ — ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਭਗਤੀ ਜਾਣ ਲਈ, ਉਹ ਸ਼ੁੱਧ ਹੋ ਗਏ। Punjabi Katha on Bhagat Kabir Ji's first three Shabads in Raag Sorath, from Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, Ang 654–655.
