Vintage Flintknapping Video by Swoose Alexander-Part 4/6

This is Part 4 in an instructional flintknapping video by J.E. "Swoose" Alexander (1919-2008) of McCamey, Texas. In this installment, Swoose, once named the "Finest Flintknapper in Texas" discusses FOLSOM, CLOVIS, AND THE OPPOSED FLUTE THEORY, an 2001 article by Ray Harwood for Indian Artifact Magazine. He also expands on his fluting techniques for making replicas of these Paleoindian point types using his "SWOOSE FLUTER" WITH INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO BUILD AND USE IT. Swoose also expands on his FORKED-LIMB FLUTIN technique. Swoose was 84 when he originally made this VHS series around 2002! NOTE: Swoose is no longer with us, so do not call the phone numbers or use the mailing address listed in the video. With permission from Mr. Alexander's surviving family, Texas Cache Magazine has digitized six hours of the old VHS tapes for posterity. The Summer 2026 issue of Texas Cache features a 9-page remembrance of Swoose... hard copies can be ordered at TexasCacheMagazine.com, and the full article can also be downloaded or read for free on the "Articles" page.
