Vintage Flintknapping Video by Swoose Alexander-Part 6/6

This is Part 6 of 6 in an instructional flintknapping video by J.E. "Swoose" Alexander (1919-2008) of McCamey, Texas. In this installment, Swoose, once named the "Finest Flintknapper in Texas" demonstrates his theories and techniques of FLUTING and FLAKING, PREPARING PREFORMS, and USING A DIAMOND WHEEL SAW TO CUT SLABS. Swoose was 78 when he originally made this VHS series around 1997! NOTE: Swoose is no longer with us, so do not call the phone numbers or use the mailing address listed in the video. With permission from Mr. Alexander's surviving family, Texas Cache Magazine has digitized six hours of the old VHS tapes for posterity. The Summer 2026 issue of Texas Cache features a 9-page remembrance of Swoose... hard copies can be ordered at TexasCacheMagazine.com, and the full article can also be downloaded or read for free on the "Articles" page. This video was copied from one VHS tape to another in 1997, then digitized in 2026. The original source VHS tape included segments that were fast-forwarded in parts, so unfortunately, that transferred to the digital copy.
