Thanks to ‪@griffinrails‬ for the research: Darnick opened in 1927 as a railway construction camp was one of many similar stations on the Broken Hill line. It was served by the thrice weekly Silver City Comet until its axing in 1989. The loops were comissioned in 1968. Sometime after this date the passenger platform and station buildings were 'accidentally demolished'. In 1996 a service was reintroduced, at first with 81 or 422 class locos and HUB/RUB cars brought out of retirement. As the station was demolished the country's smallest station had to be made new at Whyalla, rumoured to be paid for by the 'community' and not the station.
