Volunteer Power: Behind the Scenes of Locomotive Radiator Repair at OK Railway Museum! (2 of 3)

This video is part 2 of a 3 part series covering the replacement of the radiators in the EMD F9A locomotive at the museum. With the existing radiators removed, the new ones were modified to fit the roof. With the assistance of most of the mechanical crew, the radiators were reintegrated into the roof panel and then the roof and locomotive were staged for the crane. In the morning of October 10, 2023, the crane and crew arrived and assisted with a precision reinstallation of the locomotive roof. Part 1 covered the initial removal of the roof and the radiators. Part 3 will cover the engine startup and coolant system testing. Built in September 1954 by EMD. Builder's no 19741. Northern Pacific Railway Company was the original owner and the unit had road number 7003-D. When the NP merged into the Burling Northern Railroad, the number changed to 814. Locomotive retired and donated by Burlington Northern to ORM in 1982. The original prime mover was a model 567C converted to a model 645. Weight: 247,400 pounds Fuel: 1000 gallons
