I Was “Being Good” With Houseplants… Then THIS Happened 😅🌿

I've been relatively well behaved when it comes to buying new houseplants recently… relatively. 😅🌿 Then I visited my local garden centre and had a slight moment of weakness. In this video, I'm showing you some of the unusual tropical houseplants that came home with me, including some plants I've only ever seen online before, plus one variegated plant I genuinely didn't expect to find sitting in a local garden centre. There are new Alocasias, Anthuriums, Geogenanthus and Rhaphidophora, including some seriously dark foliage, ridiculously velvety leaves and a few plants I've wanted to try growing for quite a while. I'm also experimenting with some different growing methods, including tree fern fibre, LECA reservoirs and my own take on the semi-closed growing setups I've seen people using successfully with Alocasias. But this isn't just a rare houseplant haul. I'm also checking in on some plants from my collection that you haven't seen for a while, including several that came extremely close to dying. My Monstera 'White Monster', Anthurium clavigerum, some of my own Anthurium seedlings and my very temperamental Anthurium Zara × Michelle all make an appearance, along with a few plants that have been quietly recovering inside my propagation box. Some of them are making surprisingly good comebacks. Others… well, we'll see. 😅 And yes, thrips have decided to make another appearance too because apparently I wasn't dealing with enough already. If you grow any of these plants, particularly Alocasias using reservoir or semi-closed setups, I'd love to hear how they've behaved for you during autumn and winter.
