Homeless in Spain: Meeting Mike & Life Off Grid in Torrevieja

After nearly four years of following Mike on YouTube and exchanging messages, we finally meet in person. Mike is English and lives off grid in a makeshift tent in a field in Torrevieja. He recently invited me to join him at Tweety’s Fish & Chips, so I made the hour-and-a-half drive to spend some time with him. After a lovely meal, we went back to where he lives for a chat about his everyday life and how he manages. I ask Mike four questions about his daily routine, the pleasures and challenges of living this way, whether he knows others in similar circumstances, and what he wishes people understood about his life. We also talk about his dog Tina, his companion until she sadly passed away a month ago. This visit focuses on Mike’s life today. For anyone wanting to understand how he became homeless, Mike has already shared his story in a longer video on his own channel. ▶️ Mike’s YouTube channel: DELTA MIKE DOWN AND OUT IN TORREVIEJA ▶️ YouTube handle: @DeltaMikeTorreveja 📧 You can find his email address on his channel if you’d like to contact him. Thank you, Mike, for the invitation, your hospitality and for sharing your daily life with us. Please keep your comments kind and respectful. #RetiringToSpain #Torrevieja #OffGridLife
