C&O Canal Bike Ride (Point of Rocks to Brunswick MD) (with 20+ TRAIN RUNBYS!!!) (December 19 1997)

The MOTHERLODE of runby videos! Guaranteed no fewer than 20!! A RUNBY A MINUTE!!! (almost!) ACTION PACKED!! (for the most part) A MUST SEE!! (slightly overworked superlative these days) Don't know what else to say about a bike ride we once took from Point of Rocks to Brunswick MD along the Chesapeake & Ohio Canal on a relatively warm December day which yielded a wealth of trains-the most I've ever caught on tape (not counting private railfan excursions)!! I apologize for the length of this vid (edited down from 2 hours!) but I didn't want to leave anything out! Watch it all at once or piecemeal, but, I guarantee it'll be worth it! NO FEWER THAN 20 RUNBYS with CSX, MARC and Amtrak. I didn't know all the names and/or numbers of the trains but still, great runbys! See various lash-ups of the time (elephant-style INCLUDED), including old-school CSX and double-ended MARC! You may even see locomotives here still running today! This was supposed to be a bike ride but instead TRAINS! TRAINS! TRAINS!! Then again, I gotta be honest: that was my impetus for chosing this part of the canal to ride! Also included is another night Brunswick sequence, with all kinds of trains with an incredible variety of horns (& associated doppler effects), and even a rarity you'll have to watch to see! You'll also see a few C&O Canal spots, such as Lander Lock and the Catoctin Aqueduct site prior to rebuilding of the aqueduct. But still, this is mostly TRAINS!! Incredible to get so many in a short span of time! And, prior to 9/11, CSX was a bit more accomodating. If anything, this is definitely a *MUST HEAR!!!* I recommend playing through a surround sound system to get the full effect-especially in sequences containing doppler effects! I have a 7.5 ch 700 watt surround amp and this just blows the roof off!! The ones YOU make sound good through it too-incidently. Makes EVERYTHING a Must Hear! Non-stop action (just about)!! Please watch, enjoy, and tell me what you think! Trains by bike; trains by car! And maybe join us for our next ride there...whenever that might be. Other than that, this was just a typical day with yer' bullfrog in the late 1990s... From an 8mm video tape and mastered here in 720p for best upload results.
