Špindlerova Bouda - Śnieżne Stawki - Szklarska Poręba [Karkonosze, Poland]

A breathtaking autumn hiking trail through the Karkonosze Mountains (Giant Mountains), following the scenic route from Špindlerova Bouda at the Polish-Czech border through Czarny Kocioł Jagniątkowski, the spectacular Śnieżne Kotły glacial cirques and Śnieżne Stawki mountain lakes, to Schronisko Pod Łabskim Szczytem and Szklarska Poręba. With golden autumn vegetation, dense mountain forests, rugged granite landscapes, wooden boardwalks and spectacular views of the surrounding peaks and valleys, this hike reveals some of the most beautiful and peaceful corners of the Polish Sudetes. The journey begins at Špindlerova Bouda, a mountain hotel located at Karkonoska Pass (1,198 m) on the Polish-Czech border. From here, the trail follows the scenic Ścieżka nad Reglami, traversing the northern slopes of the Karkonosze Mountains through spruce forests, mountain pine, rocky paths and sections of wooden walkways. In autumn, the landscape is especially beautiful, with golden grasses, reddish mountain shrubs and colorful vegetation contrasting with dark green conifers and massive granite boulders. One of the first highlights is Czarny Kocioł Jagniątkowski (Black Cirque), a secluded glacial cirque surrounded by steep mountain slopes, rocky formations and wild subalpine vegetation. Continuing west, the trail passes through peaceful mountain scenery, offering beautiful views of the Karkonosze foothills and the dramatic cliffs of Śnieżne Kotły. The most spectacular section leads through Śnieżne Kotły (Snowy Cirques), two impressive glacial valleys carved into the northern slopes of the Karkonosze ridge. Towering rock walls rise above Śnieżne Stawki, a group of small, crystal-clear mountain lakes surrounded by granite boulders and dwarf mountain pines. The combination of rugged cliffs, still water and autumn colors creates one of the most memorable landscapes in the entire mountain range. From Śnieżne Kotły, the trail continues towards Schronisko PTTK Pod Łabskim Szczytem, a historic mountain shelter located at approximately 1,168 m above sea level. Situated on an open mountain meadow beneath Łabski Szczyt, the shelter offers panoramic views towards Szklarska Poręba, the Jelenia Góra Valley and the distant Izera Mountains. The final section descends through beautiful mountain forests, following peaceful woodland trails towards Rozdroże pod Kamieńczykiem and the parking area near Szklarska Poręba. The changing scenery, from dramatic alpine landscapes to quiet autumn forests, makes this hike a wonderful journey through the natural beauty of the Karkonosze Mountains.
