Who Killed Solange? The Mother Murdered in a Small Colorado Town | Secrets Of The Morgue

In a peaceful Colorado community, single mom Solange Haikkala is murdered within view of her daughter’s bed. Her abusive boyfriend admits he assaulted her. And though that explains the mysterious bruises on her body, he insists he was nowhere near Solange the night she died. A convicted sex offender and the local fire chief also join the list of suspects, leaving the medical examiner to decipher the DNA evidence on her body to ultimately catch her killer. In this episode of Secrets of the Morgue, we head to Jamestown, a small, free-spirited mountain community about 15 miles northwest of Boulder. One Saturday morning, a neighbour and 12-year-old Allora call 911 after finding her mother, 30-year-old Solange, cold and unresponsive on the floor of the converted garage studio across the street. The room looks ransacked, Solange is naked from the waist down beneath a blanket, and her body is covered in bruises. Boulder County detectives and coroner Emma Hall work with a forensic pathologist who has performed more than 4,000 autopsies to rebuild Solange’s last night, from a party in town to a 2:30am drop-off that Allora watched from her babysitter’s couch. Fingertip bruises on her thighs and arms, deep bruising inside her neck and burst blood vessels in her eyes reveal a brutal confrontation. As detectives uncover a jealous, violent boyfriend, a fire chief whose story keeps changing, and a strange man seen driving back and forth on the street that night, a light that unexpectedly went out in the studio becomes a key clue.
