Sisteron 2026. Best moments

Expedition to Sisteron 2026. Looking back at this trip, I can confidently say that I probably made good use of my previous mountain flying experience because I hardly encountered any moments of being in a crisis situation. Except for one instance, when I deliberately took a risk but with the option to land at Seyne Airfield, which worked out, and I gained new experience landing at a foreign airport. Seyne Airport has its own specific conditions due to its location, such as its size and a slight slope towards the NW, and it is squeezed into a valley between mountains. So having the chance to fly with a local instructor, I did 3 aerotow flights testing emergency situations at this airfield. I’m happiest that I managed to fly the 270 km route I had planned back on the ground, along with the proper weather analysis and planning the approach to the airport from the high parts of the mountains. With every flight, a person enjoys amazing views when they are in extraordinary places and see mountain peaks and ridges from a perspective that the average tourist has no chance of seeing. When you add interesting cloud formations blended into the mountain landscape to these views, you get a whole range of reasons why so many pilots fly in such scenery. I made 7 flights on the Astir B5 and 3 flights with an instructor on the ASK 13. I spent over 30 hours in the air and covered almost 1600 km. The most valuable thing, however, is the experience I gained, and there's still never enough of it.
