WFIB, University of Cincinnati Student Radio Station, Engineering Marathon Aircheck, 1971

Starting in 1969, engineering students with the University of Cincinnati Student Radio Station WFIB would host an overnight marathon of radio shenanigans. This aircheck is from the Alan Sakalas 1/4 inch tape archive. DJ'ing under the name "Mel Waukee" for several popular radio stations in the Cincinnati and Dayton, Ohio area, Alan later went on to become Chief Engineer at the WLW-T television station in Cincinnati. WFIB was a "carrier current" radio station, that was piped into power lines around UC campus, where it could be picked up on standard AM radios of the era—instead of being broadcast from a traditional radio tower. WFIB is no defunct and replaced by the Bearcast Media streaming service, you can find more info on that here: https://www.bearcastmedia.com/
