What if burnout isn’t only about how much you’re doing… but about how much you believe you have to carry? You keep going. You answer one more message, finish one more task, solve one more problem. And even when you finally stop, your mind doesn’t. Rest begins to feel like guilt. Slowing down feels irresponsible. And somewhere along the way, exhaustion starts feeling normal. But Scripture tells a surprisingly different story. 📖 In 1 Kings 18–19, the prophet Elijah goes from one of the greatest victories of his life to a moment of complete physical and emotional exhaustion. And God’s response is remarkable. Before giving Elijah another mission, He allows him to sleep. He gives him food. Water. Rest. And eventually, perspective. Jesus offers an invitation that speaks directly into the same struggle: “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” — Matthew 11:28 Maybe the biblical answer to burnout isn’t simply learning how to become more productive. Maybe it begins by recognizing something much harder: You are not God. You were never asked to be. In this episode of Scripture in Our Time, we explore burnout through the story of Elijah, the words of Jesus, and one uncomfortable question many of us rarely ask: What is actually yours to carry—and what belongs to God? 🙏 Stay until the end and pray with us as we ask God to teach us something that can be surprisingly difficult in a culture obsessed with productivity: how to rest without guilt. If this video speaks to something you’ve been carrying, you can simply write “rest” in the comments. No explanation needed.
