📅 Date: July 8, 2025
Not every day on a long-term road trip involves mountain roads, colonial towns, beaches, or border crossings.
Some days are about something equally important:
✅ Logistics
✅ Supplies
✅ Planning
✅ Vehicle recovery
✅ Preparing for the next adventure
Day 75 was one of those days.
After weeks of exploring central Mexico and before beginning our next major circuit through Tlaxcala, Puebla, and Veracruz, we spent the day handling everyday tasks in Mexico City.

🏙️ A Different Kind of Travel Day
Most travel videos focus on destinations.
This day focused on everything that makes those destinations possible.
Living on the road for months at a time requires regular maintenance, restocking supplies, running errands, planning routes, organizing equipment, and managing daily life.
While the mileage was low, the day played an important role in keeping the journey moving smoothly.
🛒 Life Inside a Long-Term Road Trip
One of the biggest differences between a vacation and a multi-month expedition is logistics.
A long journey isn't sustained by exciting moments alone.
It's supported by routines.
During the day, we moved between different neighborhoods of Mexico City taking care of practical matters related to our stay in the capital and preparing for future routes.
These are the days that rarely appear in travel brochures but are essential to making long-term travel sustainable.
🚙 Giving the Jeep a Well-Deserved Break
The Jeep had already carried us thousands of kilometers across Canada, the United States, and Mexico.
Days with very little driving allowed the vehicle to rest while giving us an opportunity to evaluate upcoming routes and make sure everything remained organized for the next phase of the journey.
Sometimes the best thing you can do for a vehicle on a long expedition is simply not drive it.
📍 Mexico City as an Operational Base
One of the smartest decisions of the trip was establishing a long-term base in Mexico City.
Instead of constantly changing hotels, we were able to:
✅ Store equipment
✅ Organize supplies
✅ Rest between excursions
✅ Plan future routes
✅ Explore neighboring states through day trips and regional circuits
The strategy continued proving itself every week.
🏡 Accommodation
📍 Private Apartment
📍 Cuauhtémoc, Mexico City
✅ Long-term operational base
✅ No hotel changes
✅ No checkout or check-in routines
✅ Perfect headquarters for exploring central Mexico
🌎 Day 75 may not have featured dramatic landscapes or major attractions, but it represented something just as important: the systems and routines that make long-term travel possible.
Every great road trip is built on days like this.
