Javelina 100 (2024) - Failing at my first 100 mile attempt

Javelina 100 is a popular 100 mile race in the desert of McDowell Mountain Regional Park in Fountain Hills, close to Phoenix and Scottsdale, AZ. This was my first 100 mile race after completing a 100 km race in January 2024. It was very hot out there (about 97 degrees F) but I felt like I was hydrating and getting enough salt, but my muscles basically stopped working and I couldn't do anything more than slow walk. It was not the performance I wanted so was very disappointed, but will be back to try again!
