The developments have drawn attention to the party's demands for electoral reforms and the resignation of India's Chief Election Commissioner. The government has stepped up measures to stop Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) from advancing with its long march, as containers remain in place at key entry and exit points of Rawalpindi. The roadblocks have disrupted traffic flow, created difficulties for commuters, and affected business activities across the city. Citizens travelling to and from Taxila, Attock, and other nearby areas are facing significant challenges due to the restrictions. The ongoing blockade has raised concerns about public inconvenience, the financial burden on taxpayers, and the impact on local businesses. Containers placed along major roads have restricted movement, causing long traffic queues and making daily commuting increasingly difficult for residents, workers, traders, and passengers. According to the report, approximately 50 containers positioned on the GT Road route leading from Taxila and Attock towards Rawalpindi are costing around Rs 500,000 per day in rental charges. Since September 24, the rental cost for these containers has reportedly reached Rs 7.5 million. If the current situation continues for another two weeks, the total amount could rise to approximately Rs 15 million. These figures have sparked questions about the financial implications of the government's efforts to prevent the PTI long march. The rental expenses are expected to be covered through public funds, raising concerns about whether taxpayers should bear the cost of prolonged road closures and security arrangements. The restrictions have also created difficulties for traders and business owners. Several shopkeepers say their commercial activities have been severely affected, while they continue to face expenses such as shop rent, electricity bills, and other operational costs. With customer movement restricted and traffic diverted, businesses are struggling to maintain their normal operations.
