Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band “The Ghost of Tom Joad” • Cleveland, Ohio • May 22, 2026

Bruce Springsteen came to Cleveland to inspire us to stand up and protect America and Americans from the extreme overreach of our federal government that is pitting us all against each other. “We’re in this together! We can argue about what we should do to reach for our goal of forming a ‘more perfect UNION’ while maintaining respect for each other in the process!” (Paraphrasing him) The show was curated as a protest/anti-war revival. This song is a Bruce and Tom Morello duet on an electrified version of “The Ghost of Tom Joad”, the title track of the Bruce solo album in 1995, which was also covered by Rage Against the Machine for their album ‘Renegades’ (1997). Bruce later thanked Cleveland for a “lifetime!” and reminisced about playing the “old Agora” when he was 27 or 28. And finished the set with the Bob Dylan classic “Chimes of Freedom”
