James turns his attention from our relationship with the world to our relationship with one another, warning against speaking against and judging our brothers and sisters. To judge another person is to place ourselves in the position that belongs to God alone— the position of Judge and Lawgiver. Rather than using our energy to evaluate, criticize, or condemn others, we are called to examine our own hearts and live under God's authority. The message should challenge us to stop playing judge, take an honest look at ourselves, and remember to mind our own business.
