UNIS End Today. The Date Was In Their Contract From Day One.

Today, 26 September 2026, the girl group UNIS come to the end of their contract. Eight members, two and a half years. Almost every headline this week used one word for it: disband. But the date that ends today was written down before UNIS had released a single song. So if a group's end date is fixed the day it is formed, why do some groups like this get to keep going — and others do not? WHERE UNIS CAME FROM 18 November 2023 – 17 January 2024 — SBS's survival show Universe Ticket. The winners debut together. 27 March 2024 — UNIS debut with the EP "We UNIS": Hyeonju, Nana, Gehlee, Kotoko, Yunha, Elisia, Yoona and Seowon. F&F Entertainment signs them for two years and six months. 23 April 2025 — "Swicy" brings their first music show win, on Show Champion. July 2026 — with two months left on the contract, a Japanese EP. 22 September 2026 — F&F Entertainment announce the contract will end on 26 September. 23 September 2026 — a final digital single, "Milky Way", for their fans, EverAfter. THE MODEL — AND THREE DIFFERENT ENDINGS A survival show picks the members, a fixed-term contract is signed, and the group ends when the term does, unless somebody agrees to extend it. Wanna One (Produce 101 Season 2) — the contract ended on 31 December 2018. They ended on schedule. IZ*ONE (Produce 48) — a two-and-a-half-year contract; talks to extend fell through, and the group ended on 29 April 2021. Two members, Jang Won-young and Ahn Yu-jin, went on to debut in IVE. Kep1er (Girls Planet 999) — the same term; in May 2024 seven of nine members extended, and the group carried on without Mashiro and Yeseo. WHAT THE AGENCY SAID F&F Entertainment says that after discussions between the agency and the members about the contract period and future activities, they decided to conclude UNIS as a full group in line with the originally scheduled contract period, and that it will support the members at their new starting points. WHAT IS NOT KNOWN Nobody outside the room knows whether any member wanted to extend or whether an offer was made; the terms of the talks have not been reported. No member's next agency has been announced — if you see a headline naming one, check the date and the source. THE COMMENTS The comments on UNIS's own "Milky Way" music video are mostly grief and gratitude, so this episode shows the range of it. Comments are quoted exactly as written; the Korean ones are shown in the original with an English translation beneath and read aloud as translated. Comments are attributed to the platform only. FOOTAGE Stage, broadcast and press footage is used briefly, with its audio removed, for news commentary and criticism. All sources are attributed on screen.
