(Filmed on 12/21/18 featuring CHI Elevators). After re-filming the elevator in the Buckingham Wing of the Congress Plaza Hotel, I decided to go check out the newly modded Otis elevators that serve the even-numbered rooms. These elevators use to be Otis with touch-sensitive buttons and then got modernized by a generic elevator company known as Parkway with Innovation Prestige fixtures. So unfortunately, the original components to it are now gone. However, when Victor & I were about to get in the elevator, we were stopped by a security guard. I thought this gentleman was a cop at first and wouldn't care if we film the elevators, but when I noticed him following us around, that's when I figured he was a security guard. He asked where we were going and if we were guests.
I then told him we weren't guests and were just checking out the elevators. Like what most hotel security guards would say about this, he told us that these elevators lead to the floors where the tenants are staying and wandering around on those floors without a room key is trespassing. I probably should've told him about our elevator hobbies and that we were just gonna take one round-trip on them but was too nervous to, so I just did what the guard told us. This is unbelievable!!! I have never been busted for filming the elevators the last time I visited this hotel to film their elevators. Having a night-time security guard must be a new thing the Congress Plaza is doing to keep their guests safe since there wasn't any of them when The Elevator Channel & thewildeeper filmed here a few years ago.
I also noticed that guard was monitoring just that elevator bank and not any other parts of the lobby. I mean, sure it's trespassing to go to other floors of a hotel if you're not a guest, but come on!!! These are something I've been wanting to get a take of for a while. And to make things worse, the security guard recommended that we research to see when those ghost tours are so we could explore certain areas of the hotel. Yeah, like I'd be more interested in that than filming their elevators. Oh well, at least that guard was nice, and elevators are just some boring, generic mod now. Next time I come back here, I'm probably gonna either ask permission to film these elevators, film them during the day, or if there's a guard monitoring that specific area of the hotel, start filming on another floor.
