#monsoondrive #roadtrip #dalhousie #khajjiar 10th July 2022, Sunday…..Day(3) Khajjiar (6 km). Monsoon Drive Day (3)…Khajjiar. The rain had transformed the hills into an emerald dream by the third morning of our monsoon drive. Tucked away on a quiet hillock behind a dense curtain of towering deodar trees, our hideout—Snow View Homestay—offered the ultimate alpine sanctuary. Waking up here was pure magic: low-hanging clouds drifted past the windows, thick mist wrapped around the branches, and the crisp mountain air carried the rich, earthy fragrance of damp pine needles and wild flora. After a steaming cup of tea paired with crunchy rusks, we took a slow walk down to the famous Khajjiar meadow. Vast stretches of lush green turf unfolded beneath a shifting sky. Towering deodars framed the clearing, while heavy clouds rolled across the grass, occasionally brushing against the central lake and painting the landscape in dreamy, pastel hues. A soft drizzle drifted through the air now and then, adding a cool glaze to the day without dampening anyone’s spirits. The meadow buzzed with infectious cheer. Families, travelers, and locals gathered to soak in the weather, their laughter blending seamlessly with the quiet rhythm of the mountains. The air was filled with tempting aromas from local food stalls. We spent the day indulging in tangy fruit chaat, piping-hot snacks, and classic, comforting mountain staples—steamed rice paired with rich rajma, tangy kadhi, and slow-cooked dal. As daylight faded, we made our way back to Snow View Homestay. The evening settled into deep serenity, filled with soul-stirring music, quiet conversations, and a simple, delicious homely meal—the perfect end to an unforgettable monsoon day.
