In reality this entire sequence from Arizona USA to the Gulf of Mexico took 5 minutes to traverse a distance of 2,062 kilometres, providing a glimpse of how fast ISS travels in its orbit. This films slows that speed by a factor of 12.' Cosma creates Ultra High Definition video footage of planet Earth from space using ISS astronaut photography which is meticulously repaired and remastered for cinematic immersion. Designed to educate, elicit awe and raise cosmic awareness, all of the films produced in this manner should be experienced on a large format display, along with a good sound system. The video footage contained in this film is independently produced, it is not created by NASA or sourced from any NASA server. The video footage featured in this film was made by creating a mosaic of 300 raw photographs taken from ISS. For each image, artifacts were repaired and all images were corrected for sensor noise, color and exposure before they were stitched together in a 300,000 pixels wide seamless photo-mosaic. This mosaic was sliced into 30 chunks. Intermediate versions of each slice were created to ensure quality standard was upheld, to facilitate import between different production applications and to enable neural network assisted upscaling required to fill the 8k frame. The resulting mosaic was 450,000 pixels wide. All slices were manually re-assembled inside After Effects with pixel precision.
