The first thing that struck me about Iceland was its untouched, elemental beauty—as though the Earth had left one corner of itself beautifully unfinished. Driving away from Keflavík, I watched endless lava fields stretch toward the horizon, softened by carpets of green moss. It felt less like entering a country and more like stepping into a world still taking shape. As I travelled deeper into Iceland, the landscape constantly transformed—black volcanic plains, distant mountains, steaming geothermal vents and vast open skies. Around every bend, nature revealed another face: waterfalls cascading from cliffs, glaciers standing silently in the distance, and the ocean stretching beyond rugged shores. There was something deeply moving about this vastness. Nothing seemed created to impress, yet everything did. Away from the noise of everyday life, I began noticing the smallest details—the wind across the lava, the changing light and the shifting colours of the mountains. I came to Iceland to witness its natural wonders. Instead, Iceland taught me that the most beautiful moments are often the ones we cannot capture—only experience.
