EP DESK, Pasighat, Aug 15, 2026: Pasighat celebrated the 80th Independence Day with patriotic fervour and colourful cultural performances, as people from different sections of society gathered to mark the national occasion. The programme was graced by MLA Tapi Darang, in the presence of the Deputy Commissioner of East Siang, Superintendent of Police, Chief Councillor and Deputy Chief Councillor of Pasighat Municipal Council, along with officials, public representatives, students and citizens. The celebration featured vibrant performances by students representing different schools and institutions. The colourful cultural presentations, along with patriotic performances, added to the festive atmosphere and reflected the rich cultural diversity of Pasighat and Arunachal Pradesh. Addressing the gathering, MLA Tapi Darang called upon the people to remain united and work collectively for the development of Pasighat and the state. Darang also highlighted the ongoing development initiatives and projects in Pasighat, noting that several works are being undertaken to improve infrastructure and public amenities in the town. He emphasised the need for continued cooperation between the administration, elected representatives and the people to ensure that development reaches the community effectively. The Independence Day celebration concluded on a patriotic note, with the participation of students, officials and citizens reinforcing the message of unity, development and collective responsibility for a stronger Pasighat and Arunachal Pradesh.
