Steve plays Hole 9 of the Blue Course at Cumberwell Park Golf Club, numbered Hole 27 in Cumberwell's overall course numbering. Hole 27 is a 466-yard par 5. On paper, it's a relatively short finishing hole, but the uphill layout, prevailing wind and narrow landing area between the bunkers make it more demanding than the yardage suggests. The second shot is also uphill towards a large, well-protected green, so getting the ball far enough up the hole is important. It might look like a good opportunity to finish strongly, but it still needs to be played properly. Before becoming a member at Cumberwell Park, Steve always remembered this as a really difficult hole. Now he walks onto the tee feeling like he should have a chance of making birdie every time he plays it. Perhaps that's as much a reflection of how his golf has changed through lessons, practice and club fitting as it is of the hole itself. Cumberwell's five nine-hole courses use continuous hole numbers: Red 1–9, Yellow 10–18, Blue 19–27, Orange 28–36 and White 37–45. This is Hole 27, the ninth and final hole on the Blue Course.
