FMAB’s Fifth Laboratory Revealed Father’s Plan Too Early
The Entire Plan Was Already Down There
Before Brotherhood even introduces Father, Edward walks into a building that contains almost his entire operating system.
A government prison supplies human beings. Condemned men are declared dead, stripped of their names, and rebuilt as numbered weapons. A Philosopher’s Stone circle waits beneath the floor. Homunculi supervise the project, protect Edward for a plan he knows nothing about, kill a witness before he can identify the person in charge, and destroy the laboratory when the secret becomes dangerous.
Then the story moves on so quickly that Laboratory Five can feel like an early dungeon instead of one of the biggest warnings in the series.
It was not literally a miniature Promised Day. There was no nationwide circle inside it, and Brotherhood never says every experiment there was designed as a direct rehearsal for Father’s final transmutation.
But the lab exposed the method Father would eventually use on all of Amestris.
Ordinary people could be converted into power. Certain alchemists had to be kept alive as human sacrifices. The military supplied bodies and erased records. The Homunculi controlled the truth. And when evidence threatened the plan, the entire site could disappear overnight.
Edward entered Laboratory Five looking for the secret of the Philosopher’s Stone.
What he actually found was the difference between the people Father planned to consume and the people he needed as keys.
