Santo & Johnny Teardrop Played On Wurlitzer Atlanta Juke Box

Brothers Santo & Johnny Farino in 1959 made the iconic number Sleepwalk on the US Canadian -American Label .It hit No1 in August 1959 and was the 6th instrumental to hit no1 since 1956 . ( changed days now ) It also charted in UK in October of `59 making Top 10 . The follow up single was a number called Teardrop .Sounding similar to Sleepwalk it didn`t do so well charting in US Top 30 in December 1959 and in UK Top 50 in March 1960 . Sleepwalk was in UK on Pye International where Teardrop is on EMI`s Palophone label . The brothers were American / Italian from Brooklyn New York .The steel guitar played by Santo being prominent .Johnny played rhythm and the studio provided a session drummer and bass player . Santo started playing at 9 years old and taught his younger brother the guitar ! Teardrop for me is a tad under rated as it`s got all what Sleepwalk has but just a bit samey .Never less has that lovely haunting sound that was their trademark .
