A look at the former South Alloa Branch opened in 1850, and it's replacement the Alloa Railway of 1885. These lines linked the town of Alloa to the mainline between Falkirk and Stirling. The South Alloa Branch required a ferry ride to reach Alloa. The Alloa Railway finally linked the town directly via a new bridge over the River Forth. Station sites are explored at Airth, Throsk and South Alloa, and the intriguing Bandeath munitions depot. The lines were closed in sections between 1950 and 1978.
