THE FAR SHORE OF MYSELF - BLOODBORNE INSPIRED DARK ORCHESTRAL FOR WRITING & DEEP FOCUS "The Far Shore of Myself" is a 7-track Bloodborne inspired dark orchestral album following a man who goes looking for himself — not idly, but the way you search a house at night for a sound you're no longer sure you heard, with dread and a candle — and arrives at the cold luminous water at the bottom of everything he is. He looks across it, and he sees him: the one he was, before the path, standing small and clear on the far shore. He can see him. He cannot reach him. The path I took to get here changed me. I knew that in the ordinary way for a long time, the way you know you've aged. And then I came to the edge of myself, this shore, this cold luminous water at the bottom of everything I am, and I looked across it, and I stopped knowing it in the ordinary way and started knowing it in the way that does not let you sleep. Because he's there. On the far shore. Standing in the water. Me — the one I was before. I can see him, and that's the part I can't get past; I thought looking this deep would show me a wound, a reason, some dark machinery, and instead it showed me a person, small and clear across the water, standing exactly the way I used to stand before I knew how to stand any other way, unmistakably him and unmistakably not me anymore. He's just standing there in the light, whole, before any of it, and I would give anything to reach him. But the water doesn't take feet. This is not a distance you close by wanting to; this is the distance between who a man is and who he was, and it only runs one direction, and I am standing on the far end of it looking back at the beginning of myself. I could call across. I don't. Because even if my voice carried, he wouldn't understand it — he'd have to have walked the path to understand what it costs, and if he walked the path he'd be me, and then there'd be no one on the far shore for me to grieve. He has to stay who he is. He has to stay standing there, untroubled, whole, not knowing — because the moment he understands me, he's gone, and I lose the last clear look at the person I started as. So I don't warn him. I came all this way, to the bottom of myself, and found the one person I would most want to spare, and I say nothing, because saving him would erase him, and I would rather grieve him whole than protect him into becoming me. I'm not sad that I changed; change was going to happen, the path was the path, and I've stopped pretending I would have refused it. I'm sad in a smaller, more specific way — sad that he's so far away, sad that the last honest look I get at who I was, I get across water I cannot cross, from a shore I cannot leave, at a man who's waving at me kindly and has no idea he's waving at his own ending. So I'll sit here a while, on my shore, and let him stand there on his, and let me look at you — that's all this was ever going to be, not a reunion, not a return, just a man at the far edge of himself getting one long look at the beginning, before the current of the ordinary carries him back and the shore goes dark and I am, once again, only who I am now. Goodbye. You won't know it's goodbye — that's the kindest part and the worst one. You were a good man to have been. I'm sorry I couldn't stay you. AI TRANSPARENCY: Human-led creative project.
