Summer is when gardens should be at their very best - but it's also when they can decline remarkably quickly.
In this video I show you the simple jobs I never ignore if I want my borders looking good right through to autumn. First, I pick up my secateurs and wander round the garden, taking my time to dead head as I go. I also have shears handy for cutting back groups of perennials that have clearly gone over. Its also a good time for staking taller plants that might be starting to topple in the dry weather. The important thing is to take your time, after all you're enjoying the garden as well as helping it!
