Will Kirk Restores Gerald's Matchstick Ship, 1974 | The Repair Shop UK | S6 E8

A ship built from roadside matchsticks arrives in pieces — and Will Kirk is determined to bring Gerald’s 1974 labor of love back to life. Watch the dust lift (literally) as an unorthodox vacuum trick reveals the model’s hidden detail, then see how missing hull planks, fragile railings, and brand-new twin masts are painstakingly rebuilt. Meanwhile, a vintage red-and-white machinist’s chair tied to Grandma Daphne’s sewing legacy is reborn — with Dom’s critical weld and Sonnaz’s first-ever custom hide-em trim. And Kirsten tackles HMV icon Nipper, stabilizing flaking paint, rebuilding a drooping ear in papier mache, and uncovering a family secret no one expected. From delicate micro-fixes to big emotional payoffs, this episode is a masterclass in saving stories you can’t replace. Stay to the end to see the moment these treasures go home — and what their owners notice first. Watch now and feel your heart — and your toolbox — stir. #TheRepairShop #WillKirk #MatchstickShip #HMVNipper #Restoration #Upholstery #Heirlooms
