When Maaheshwarasutras were revealed to Maharshi Panini, the world of language was about to be revolutionized. It was not just Sanskrit that changed but the way to approach a language itself had to evolve. Prof. Amba Kulkarni (University of Hyderabad, Telangana) reveals to us the some of the basic differences between Paninian approach and western approach to language. She further reiterates how Paninian principles can be used to evolve a better standard of understanding language and applying it to Natural Language Processing (NLP) which is the future of linguistics.
