When war shut down the Strait of Hormuz this year, about a fifth of the world's oil lost its main road. A handful of pipelines across the Saudi and UAE deserts became the escape hatches. UAE Habshan-Fujairah pipeline: $4.2 billion ÷ (1.5 million barrels a day × $100 a barrel = $150 million a day) ≈ 28 days of flow to equal its construction cost. Yanbu exports (about 5.0M b/d, March 2026) + Fujairah loadings (about 1.8M b/d, April 2026) ≈ 6.8M b/d × $100 ≈ $680 million of oil a day, or about $100 billion every five months.
