Romans 8:1 - 17 Who Are You in Christ

In the first three chapters of Romans, Paul writes about the universal problem of sin. Everyone sins and our sin separates us from God who is holy. For that reason, everyone needs to receive Christ as Savior. In chapters 4 through 7, Paul provides illustrations showing that Jesus is the only answer to our sin problem. We are not saved by following the Law, we are not saved because of any good work of ours. Salvation only comes by grace through faith in the saving work of Jesus Christ. We are dead to sin, we are dead to the law, because we are alive in Christ. At the end of chapter 7, Paul describes the struggle we have in our spiritual journey. We want to do good, but because of our human weakness we stumble, and fall in our spiritual walk. Paul concludes chapter 7 saying, “Thanks be to God, who delivers me through Jesus Christ our Lord!” In chapter 8, Paul speaks about what it means to be alive in Christ. We will look at chapter 8 in a message entitled, “Who Are You in Christ?”
