Introducing the Lean Strategy Canvas and The Lean Product Canvas

The Lean UX Canvas has been around for nearly 10 years. It hadn't been updated in nearly 5 years. After years of feedback and recent discussions with our Sense & Respond Learning certified training partners it became clear that it was time to update it. Josh Seiden and I took the canvas apart and put it back together resulting in two new canvases. The first one is the Lean Strategy Canvas. It's designed to take the strategy and OKR (objective and key results) conversation out of the product canvas and ensure the team is aligned around a clear strategic direction and goals. The output of the Lean Strategy Canvas then gets fed into the new Lean Product Canvas. Much of the Lean Product Canvas is the same as the Lean UX Canvas. We've updated the name and many of the prompts but the work itself remains valid. The name was keeping a broad, cross-functional adoption of the canvas from happening. This is a tool for product development teams designed to reduce risk and build a shared understanding of the problems the team is taking on, the customers it is serving, and the goals it's trying to achieve.
