Making an unusual ceramic bowl | slab building pottery

A simple slab of clay can become something completely different. In this video, we make an unusual ceramic bowl with a sculptural, almost minimalist form. Using the slab building technique, we combine simple shapes and explore how different forms, depths, and volumes can come together to create a new ceramic form. There’s something beautiful about the simplicity of slab building — taking flat pieces of clay and turning them into a sculptural object. For the final surface, I use several different glazes layered on top of each other. The combination of glazes creates unexpected colors, textures, and transitions, giving the finished piece an almost painterly quality. If you love pottery, ceramics, handbuilding, slab building, ceramic art, and exploring new forms in clay, this video is for you. .......
