Jagannath History has a deep connection with the sacred traditions of Odisha and the story of Mahaprabhu’s journey from Sonepur to Puri. According to the tradition described in this report, the Chaturdhamurti were brought from Patali Srikshetra in Sonepur to Srikshetra Puri by Gajapati Jajati Keshari in daru form. After Mahaprabhu reached Puri, a major question remained—where would the deities reside when a temple was not yet ready? The story then turns to the construction of a temple for Mahaprabhu in Puri and the beginning of an important chapter in Odisha’s Jagannath tradition. Watch this special report to know how the deities came from Sonepur to Puri and how the temple was built for Mahaprabhu. Stay updated with the latest news from India and Odisha.
